 MANAMBOLO RIVER TOUR, TSINGY OF BEMARAHA AND SAFARI BAOBABS

It’s an adventurs of 11 days trip starting from Antananarivo to Morondava as follow:

Day 1: Arrival to Madagascar
Assistance on arrival and transfer to Antananarivo town. According to the arrival time, we can organize a short visit of Antananarivo.
Antananarivo tour:
Antananarivo is located in the midpoint of the highlands formerly known as the Imerina. The capital is a great political, administrative and industrial center.
The "Rova" or the “Queen palace” is the remarkable place surrounding by the residential areas, the most modern administrative district built near Anosy Lake. Many Christian buildings crosses the higher town such us Andohalo church, vestiges of Anglo-Saxon past during the eighteenth century. Anosy Lake is considered like the meeting point to discover the lower city.

- Overnight to Shanghai hotel.

 

Day 2: Antananarivo - Itasy - Tsiroanomandidy.
We start westward road direction by national 1 which rally Antananarivo to Ampefy; and cross volcanic landscape of Itasy region.

- Lunch near the lake.

In the afternoon, we continue our trip by west street zebu to join Tsiroanomandidy town.

- Accommodation to Manambolo hotel.

 

Day 3: Tsiroanomandidy - Belobaka
By 4wd, we drive to a path along hills and valleys panoramic, and then we reach Belobaka village before the desert areas.

- Break lunch to Belobaka.

Continuation to a twists track and then we win Bongolava foothills with its zebu breeders. We build our camp near the foot of Bongolava massive.

- Camping and bivouac.

 

Day 4: Ampidirana hiking
Morning: Belobaka - Ampidirana by 4x4
By 4wd car, we cross the last accessible slopes of the Middle-West. We cross after small paths around desert area.
Afternoon: With our carriers, we trek on the hill reliefs punctuated by crevasse. Along the way, we meet with indigenous people which circulate by the trails, the only means of transport in this landlocked area.
After 06 hours of trek, we win the other side of the massif and perceive Manambolo River.

- Overnight in tents and bivouac.

 

Day 5: Trek Ankavandra

We follow a rocky trail and a charming stream which falls have erect natural pools in the rock before arriving to Manambolo River.
At below lies Akavandra village; the final stage of our trek.
We build up our camp on the beaches of Manambolo River.

- Bivouac and campsites.

 

 Day 6: Manambolo River tour Madagascar by canoe

We prepare our boat and make the rituals with villagers and the team which are all from the region. Then we start our canoe trip down to Manambolo River and slips slowly along the quiet river for this first day. The landscape is dominated by arid hills shredded by erosion.

- Camping at the edge of Manambolo River.

 

Days 7: Manambolo river tour Madagascar 
Animated by the sings of children joy, our convoy slips down gently lead by current of Manambolo River.
Sometimes, the river loses its way and obligates us to make a short trek.
Manambolo River reveals its intact aspects framed by hills from which flow a clear waters.

- Camp and bivouac.


Day 8: Manambolo Gorge
The panorama change completely around Bamaraha massive. Even if we enter the foothills of Bemaraha, house disappears and Manambolo River is framed by cliffs over 20m.
We built up our campsite at the entrance of theses gorges of Manambolo River.

 

Day 9: Manambolo Gorge - Bekopaka
Early in the morning we continue our canoe trip down passing through gorges. The isolation caused by these vertical cliffs drawn by erosion of Manambolo River creates an impressive silence.
In the afternoon, we finish the gorges and join Tsingy village called Bekopaka.

- Overnight to Orchidée de Bemaraha hotel.

 

Day 10: Visit of National Park Tsingy de Bemaraha.
Early in the morning, we leave the village with the local guide to begin the tour to Tsingy.
National Park Tsingy de Bemaraha:
Identified as one of the world heritage by UNESCO since 1990, Tsingy of Bemaraha is both the result and the factors of a typical environment. These karst topography doesn’t exists nowhere in the world. Stretching along 150.000km2 these limestone reliefs are among the largest sites to Madagascar and one of most visited. About 90 varieties of birds and 8 species of reptiles, 10 kinds of Lemurs live in this park. Big and small Tsingy will probably please you and you will never forget it.

- Overnight to Orchidée de Bemaraha hotel.

 

DAY 11: Bekopaka - Morondava via Baobabs.
First of all, we get the road to Belo / Tsiribihina: A journey of 96 km we relive the emotion of the safari trip.

- Lunch to Belo / Tsiribihina.

Then, we cross Tsiribihina River by ferry boat; you should make a beautiful photo shoot there.
We continue our trip to Morondava through baobabs. 05 hours on track and we can appreciate successively the holy baobab, the loving baobab and the avenue of baobab on sunset that make the celebrity of the west.
Our tours end on the shores of the Mozambique Channel to Morondava.
