PANGALANES CHANNEL TOUR| TRIP TO EAST OF MADAGASCAR IN 14 DAYS

It’s a 14 days trip from Antananarivo and return there passing throught hightland and the East Coast of Madagascar with the following steps:

Day 1: Antananarivo
Assistance on arrival to the airport of Ivato and transfer to Antananarivo town. According to the arrival time, we can organize a short visit of Antananarivo.

- Overnight to Shangai hotel.

Day 2: Antananarivo - Antsirabe
Departure by private car to join Antsirabe on the street national 7. We cross a landscape of rice field, hills, reforestations and villages along the national 7 which has each celebrity. Short visit of “foie gras” restaurants at Behenjy, aluminum manufacturing to Ambatolampy…
We will arrive to Antsirabe in the evening and accommodation to hotel.

Day 3: Antsirabe -Ambositra - Antoetra
Short tour of Antsirabe: workshops zebu horns, railway station ... ..;then road direction to Ambositra. We can appreciate the beautifull landscape of terace ricefield, granits hills...

Day 4: Zafimaniry Village

In the morning, we plan a visit of Ambositra such us gallery arts, then we continue to 45Km on south direction. The trek to Zafimaniry villages starts immediately from Antoetra to Ifasina village.

- Overnight to inhabitant lodge

Day 5: Antoetra - Ranomafana
After the visit, we return back to Antoetra then road direction to Ranomafana Park by national 7.

Day 6: Ranomafana - Fianarantsoa

In the morning, we will visit Ranomafana National Park where live most of Madagascar lemurs. In the afternoon there will be a transfer by car to Fianarantsoa.

Day 7: Fianarantsoa - Manakara by railway
We get the railway to discover the Eastern parts of Madagascar: starting time at 7 AM, short break at each station along the way where merchants will suggest donuts, fruit... Then, passage of tunnels and bridges will care us to Manakara seaside. We will arrive to Manakara late in the evening.

Day 8: Manakara - Mananjary
Departure by motor boat to Mananjary. We follow the first green panorama of Pangalanes channel. This is a series of lakes wich is linked together to form a safe passage up the east coast.

Day 9: Mananjary - Ambahy
After the breakfast to the lodge, we embark for a short tour of bush village. We will meet also with local population, and then we continue the step on the boat for 3h navigation to rally Ambohitsara village. Late in the afternoon we reach Ambahy, a charming small harbor, decorated by coconut.

Day 10: Ambahy - Andranotsara
Early in the morning we turn to the south of the channel and detect large areas, villages and forest before reaching Sakaleona Lake that connects Analampotsy River to the small village of Nosy Varika. We finish the boat step for this day to Ambahy village and have to walk to join "Pangalanes Jungle Camp".

Day 11: Andranotsara - Mahanoro
The cruise continues through marsh where live birds, then we get Mangoro River before reaching Ambohitsara village and the “forest-lodge” site.

Day 12: Mahanoro - Andasibe
05 hours of road will rally us to Andasibe Park. We will plan after a short visit of the village in the afternoon and then relax to the heart of the rainforest to Fenon'ny Ala hotel.

- Accommodation to Feon'ny Ala hotel for 2 nights.

Day 13: Perinet Reserve and Andasibe Park
This day, we will visit Andasibe Park: We will trek along trail so look for wild diademed sifakas, woolly sifakas, common brown lemur and the famous biggest lemur of Madagascar called Indri indri. Visit also lemur island to see semi-wild common brown sifaka, grey bamboo lemurs and the black&white ruffed lemurs. However, many kinds of interesting flora and fauna exist also in this park.

Day 14: Andasibe -Pyerieras reserve– Antananarivo
We get back the road to return to Antananarivo town passing to Peyreiras Reptile Reserve for looking close captive panther chameleons, island chameleons, stump-tail chameleons, Brookesia chameleons, golden mantela frogs, tomato frogs, Madagascar tree boas, leaf-nose snakes, cat-eyed snakes, tenrecs, numerous species of leaf tail geckos and many other species. The curators of the reserve usually take the animals out of their enclosures to allow close photographs. Transfer to the hotel or the airport for international flight linking.
